Formalin

Formalin is an aqueous solution of formaldehyde that is 37% by weight, usually containing 10-15% methanol to prevent polymerization of the formaldehyde, used as an antiseptic and disinfectant.


Main Users

  • Raw material for manufacturing of resins and adhesives of plastics and wood industries, fiberglass, dyes, paints, varnishes, coatings, explosives, medicines and slow release fertilizers.
  • Biocide in applications such as bactericide and fungicide for agriculture and sterilization such as Fordor.


Formalin is packaged in bulk (stainless steel) road tankers, 200 liters plastic drums, or 25 liters plastic containers. It is stored in stainless steel or fiberglass tanks.
